Dorchester Dig
Now that playwright Rupert Creed has been commissioned to write the 6th Dorchester Community Play, as much material as possible about Dorchester between 1890 and 1914 is being gathered for him to explore….
Exciting events; local people; music of the day; fashions, local businesses, issues that affected people; who was important or interesting in the community at the time?
Are you interested in local history?
Would you like to be part of the group searching the Archives at the Dorset History Centre or the County Museum, browsing through newspapers of the day and other records?
Or would you prefer to get involved in going out into the community to talk to people and record their stories and recollections?
Please contact David Lang - DCPA Chair davidlang72_btinternet.com

We need Stories....
What stories can be unearthed, hidden away in the memories of local families, handed down over the generations?
We'd love to see objects...
These can all help tell a story about the past.
Maybe you have photographs of your ancestors from this period, old diaries, letters, hats, handbags, tools or unusual articles, records of businesses - Goulds, Channons cars etc… which paint a picture of living in Dorchester over 100 years’ ago. How exciting to bring our town’s history to life and see some of these stories woven into the final play.
If your school would like to get involved or if you have something to share please contact:
